As the requirements for "No Child Left Behind " increase every year, we have less time to deal with classroom disruptions. To assist in classroom learning, the Maple Team will use a discipline book that "travels" with each homeroom from class to class. This enables each teacher to write in the same book about the same group of children. We will document things that disrupt class, but are not serious enough to warrant a discipline slip. These may include, but are not limited to, being unprepared for class, talking during class, being tardy, not following instructions, ect. Each week we will review the discipline book and check each student's sheet for excessive problems. After a student receives 3 entries, we will have a student/teacher conference and send a letter home to the parent or guardian informing them of the situation and giving the parent an opportunity to schedule a conference if desired. At 6 checks, we will request a parent conference. After 9 entries we may assign after/before school detention. At 12 entries we will send the student to the office on a discipline slip for administrative actions. We will have a good Behavior Party at the end of each 9 week period. Any student who has 4 or fewer checks and no discipline referrals may attend the party. **Some situations may result in immediate office referrals regardless of the number of documentations. |
