Decatur County Schools is excited to celebrate an outstanding achievement by Bainbridge High School senior Mitchell Carter, who has earned both the school-level and system-level STAR Student honor!
This recognition highlights Mitchell’s academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to success inside and outside the classroom. We are equally proud of Dr. Heidi Chambers, whom Mitchell selected as his STAR Teacher. His choice speaks volumes about the meaningful impact she has made through her dedication, mentorship, and commitment to helping students thrive.

In honor of Black History Month, Primary QUEST students researched historical figures and created re-enactments based on important events in their lives. Students’ re-enactments included famous people such as Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Ruby Bridges, and many more!

4th and 5th grade QUEST students visited the Challenger Learning Center in Tallahassee where they learned about engineering and design. They even participated in their own STEM challenge in which they designed shoes that met specific criteria. Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make this event a success!
Coach DuBose Is Keen on Community Outreach
Bainbridge High School Head Football Coach, Jamey DuBose, met today with the Keenagers of Bainbridge. The Keenagers are an older adult group that meets on the first Wednesday of each month at Bainbridge First Methodist Church for a time of great food and fellowship, along with hearing from speakers from in and around our community.
Today, Coach DuBose shared how his work goes beyond building players on the field to building a community of young men grounded in character, accountability, and respect. He spoke about the importance of mentorship, teamwork, and service, emphasizing that the lessons learned through athletics extend far beyond the game and into everyday life. His message reinforced the impact of investing in young men and strengthening the community as a whole.

The Bainbridge community came together at Willis Park Gazebo to officially welcome Coach Jamey DuBose as the new Head Football Coach of Bainbridge High School!
The evening kicked off with an energizing welcome performance by the BHS Band Drumline that drew in the crowd, followed by opening remarks from Principal Christopher Bryant. The invocation was delivered by Jose Bonilla- Ortiz, a student member of the BHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Athletic Director Rex Wade formally introduced Coach DuBose, who shared his excitement and vision for Bearcat football, before closing remarks from Superintendent Dr. Boyd English.
