Pod 8.2 explored the underground wonders of Florida Caverns State Park, and it was more than just an adventure! Students connected science standards by examining cave formations made of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃), linking to elements like calcium, carbon, and oxygen, while also exploring pure substances, mixtures, and natural changes over time. They also stepped into history, discussing how the Civilian Conservation Corps helped develop the caves during the Great Depression; providing jobs and shaping the park we see today.

Science and history came together for an unforgettable experience all before enjoying lunch and a refreshing hike! Real-world learning makes standards stick!

The judges wrote: "This team demonstrates TRUE QUALITY through its unwavering attention to detail in everything it does. Clad in purple with every gear in sync, this team reflects strength, reliability, and a commitment to doing the essential exceptionally well. Though the team is new, their foundation is Strong! Like a well-built bridge, every connection is built to last."

We achieved our ROOKIE GOALS for the season:
✓ Built a bot that functions and never misses a match
✓ Earned the Rookie All-Star Award to present at State
✓ Earned our place at the State Championship in Macon next week

From broken intake rods to overcurrent issues—we kept KIT CAT running for every single match. Now we're back in the workshop, sharpening our edge for States. The only thing left on our Rookie Bucket List is to earn the privilege of traveling to compete on the world state at the end of the month. We are up for the challenge.

Thank you to our mentors, our sponsors, our alliance partners, and all the veteran FRC teams who've guided us every step of the way--helping us build a bridge to our future!

The schedule for TEAM [cy]BEARCATS in ALBANY today!

Students in Ms. Crawford's READ 180 classes tested their reading comprehension skills in an "Egg-cellent" way.

Students were given questions about the story, "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. If they answered correctly, students were given a chance to pull a prize EGG from the Black, Lottery Box. The box represents a key element of the story's plot.

It was a great way to assess the students' knowledge and "HOP" into Speak Break!
