Students in Ms. Crawford's READ 180 Class got up and moving with an interesting lesson about Complete and Run-On Sentences.
Similar to Musical Chairs, students moved around the room to the sound of the beat and wrote down sentences. When the music stopped, a lucky number was pulled and students had the opportunity to give the correct answer: Complete or Run-on. If the sentence was a run-on, they had to correct it. Who knew grammar could be this fun?

Stepping beyond the curriculum to embrace learning sparked by student choice, Ms. Rambo’s physical science class is incubating chicken and quail eggs as part of a hands-on exploration. One student extended the experience by bringing eggs from his own backyard coop, creating an authentic, real-world connection for his classmates. When questions surfaced, Mr. Cole stepped in to provide a mini-lesson on fertilized eggs and the incubation process, enriching the learning even further. Student voice. Real-world connections. Learning in action.

Bold, curious, and a little bit electric — during Mr. Perry’s ELT class today, students became engineers and young scientists. Each group drew a mystery card, raced to design and build the challenge it described, and kept their project a secret until the dramatic reveal. Sparks flew as ideas collided, experiments were tested (and retested), and every solution became a miniature proof that curiosity can ignite creativity. What started as a simple card turned into a powerful influence—students pushed one another to think bigger, iterate faster, and solve smarter. By the final reveal, the room buzzed with triumph: projects that inspire, teamwork that transforms, and confidence that will shape the next problem they choose to tackle.

BMS 8th grade students recently participated in an enriching learning experience with a visit from local optometrist Dr. Lisa Martin. During the visit, Dr. Martin supported the physical science curriculum by providing in-depth instruction on concave and convex lenses. She also explained how corrective lenses support vision, how to interpret an eye prescription, the meaning of 20/20 vision, and the specific vision requirements for various careers. The presentation included hands-on demonstrations with professional tools such as lenses, cataract implants, optokinetic drum, and more; allowing students to make meaningful real-world connections to classroom learning. This experience enhanced student engagement and reinforced the practical applications of science in everyday life.
